The City of Alachua is located in the beautiful area of North Central Florida near the City of Gainesville, home of the world famous gators and the University of Florida. Near downtown Alachua is the City of Alachua Recreation Facilities, a major sports complex with three new softball fields, two soccer fields, two baseball fields of which one has stadium seating, a football field, a gymnasium and two outdoors basketball courts. The recreation center also has a new pavilion, donated by the Chamber of Commerce that has a seating capacity that accommodates up to one hundred people. Listed in the sports facilities of the City of Alachua are other sports fields around town which include a Babe Ruth baseball field, two more little league fields, another soccer field, tennis courts, basketball courts and the beautiful downtown park which is a big hit with the kids. The park includes a dragon slide, space modules, whirl about, tire swings, big worm climber, cars, purple and green dinosaurs and other park attractions which include two new pavilions and new restroom facilities. All in all, Alachua, Florida is big on recreation, which is one of the reasons that many families are so proud to call Alachua home.

The Alachua Recreation Center has hosted even international events in its itinerary and is planning to expand such international invitational even further in the future.
