I. What is Blue Ridge Motorcoach Risk Management?

It is a consulting company formed by Steve Sulligan who combines his law enforcement training experience as a State Trooper and fifteen years of Motorcoach driving to drivers, and protects Motorcoach companies from court litigation and reduces liability. Our motto: "We Train to Reduce Liability and Increase Profitability."

II. How does a risk management training program help the Motorcoach owner and enhance your ongoing in-house training?

1) Utilizing training concepts that have been used in the law enforcement sector. In high risk/high liability areas such as police pursuit, etc., courts want to see how the extensive training program is assembled. Documentation is so very important.

2) Smaller bus companies do little or nothing in driver training. In defending a lawsuit these companies will be very vulnerable to paying significant damages.

III. How do you reduce your risk of liability?
1) Train
2) Train
3) Retrain
Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually, don't wait for problems to appear, act quickly to solve them through training programs.

IV. What areas need to be covered in Driver Training Programs?

1) Backing, turning following to close. All these are leading causes of accidents.
2) Driver fatigue.
3) Lane changes.
4) Driver responsibilities when involved in an accident.
5) Railroad grade crossings.
6) Curve negotiating.
7) Off road recovery.

V. Crisis Management
1) What is a crisis?
2) How do you plan for a crisis?
3) Why is a written policy so important?

VI. Conclusion
Why is safety training and risk management important?
1) Make your drivers safer.
2) Reduce your risk of liability.
3) Improve your companies image.
4) More customers are wanting to know about your safety programs.
5) Every Motorcoach that moves is a potential court litigation waiting to happen - don't wait until an incident occurs to begin a training program.
Do it now before an incident occurs.
