A
Word from
Debra Vallair,
CANAAN KIDS
Executive Director
Our
objective is to propel students toward becoming self-made entrepreneurs,
to develop the abilities they already possess, to expose the artist
to the business world and to help them make wise choices concerning
their careers as artists/ wise business
entrepreneurs.
Upon
completion of the program, CANAAN KIDS hopes to have scholarships
available for students desiring to attend college, art school,
etc., to enable students to achieve higher skill development by
exposure to greater learning opportunities.

"...instill
a sense of purpose and identity to the young artist and provide
a means of capturing their ideas onto various mediums for display."

Education
CANAAN
Kids' inception was the result of a desire to raise, nurture,
teach and train school-age youth while using The Department of
Human Resource's certified age appropriate competencies and activities.
CANAAN
Kids now serves as a vehicle that develops gifted artist into
entrepreneurs. Choreographed dance routines become sponsor paid
performances. Poetry readers, song and literary writers have their
works published. Gifted singers and musicians are developed into
our future's recording artist.
With school absenteeism and school dropout rates skyrocketing,
school violence and drug addiction on the rampage, teenage suicide
and pregnancies reaching alarming rates, child educators and caregivers
must rise to the challenge.
We must recommit
our time, our energies, and our talents into becoming part of
the solution to OUR problem. These at-risk youth have an intricate
part to play in our schools, our communities, our state, our country
and especially our homes.
