Practitioner Martha B. Roach, M.D. is in the solo practice of general urology. Her practice is based in the North Atlanta Area. Dr. Roach has been a urologist for eight years. She is the only Board Certified female urologist in Georgia who is also Fellowship trained in Female Urology. Prior to going into private practice, Dr. Roach enjoyed a fulfilling academic career. She was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Roach was the Director of Urodynamics and Urinary Tract Reconstruction at the Oschner Clinic. She was also the Medical Director of the Surgical Technician Training Program at Oschner. During her career in academic urology, Dr. Roach was the Director of the Urodynamics Unit and The Veterans Administration Spinal Cord Urology Unit in Augusta.

Teacher Dr. Roach has been responsible for educating medical students, urology and gynecology residents, nurses and other doctors. Dr. Roach has lectured extensively to local, national and international groups of urologists and gynecologists. Her special interests are female urology, spinal cord and neurourology, Urodynamics, continent urinary diversion and complex male urethral stricture disease. In her capacity as the Medical Director of the Urodiagnostics Laboratory at Northside Hospital, she has lectured to primary care physicians in the Atlanta area and all over the Southeast. Dr. Roach was privileged to speak at the International Urogynecology Association in Vienna, Austria during her academic career.

Researcher In addition to teaching, speaking and practicing, Dr. Roach has done research. She was a proctor for the national collagen effort to teach other doctors how to use collagen in the urinary tract. She did research as a fellow on diabetes and its effects on the urinary tract. She did animal research on using Dura to replace the bladder when diseased. She recently studied two intraurethral valves for urinary retention. She has published on the neurogenic bladder in Spina Bifida patients and on complex pubovaginal fascial sling surgeries.
