The CDL Class B Training Program is designed for individuals who wish to operate straight trucks, such as garbage, dump, and cargo trucks, just to mention a few, but are limited to operate passenger transportation vehicles. Safety is one of the utmost valuable and employable job skills that a student driver can develop. Employers look for safety in a commercial driver due to the nature of the job. Therefore, Metropolitan Technical Institute, Inc. has incorporated an intense driver safety session/program to meet and surpass industry standards.

Total number of hours in program: 20.
Credential to be awarded after completion of program: Certificate.


CDL Class B Passenger Training Program
The CDL Class B Passenger Training Program is designed for individuals who wish to operate passenger transportation vehicles such as coach, school, and transit buses (also known as public transportation). This program is similar to the CDL Class B (Straight Truck Program) because it also enables the driver to operate garbage, dump, and cargo trucks, just to mention a few.

Total number of hours in program: 20.
Credential to be awarded after completion of program: Certificate.


CDL A-40 Comprehensive Training Program
The CDL A-40 Comprehensive Training Program is an intense training program that will prepare the student with the knowledge and technical skills that are needed to operate a tractor-trailer, making this program one of the most popular and essential training tools of its kind. In this program, students will commence with the preparation for the CDL Class A written exams. The program includes all applicable endorsements such as driving with tank vehicles, hazardous materials, and double and triple trailers - the essentials needed to greatly increase employment opportunity in today's fast growing and competitive industry. Soon you will be on your way to a prosperous, rewarding, and exiting career in the field of commercial truck driving.

Total number of hours in program: 40.
Credential to be awarded after completion: Certificate.


The CDL A-60 Intermediate Training Program
classroom The CDL A-60 Intermediate Training Program is an intense training program that will prepare the student with the knowledge, technical, and employable job skills necessary to operate a tractor-trailer, making this program one of the most popular and essential training tools of its time. Employers often consider the 60-hour program a minimum standard for employment.

In resemblance to the Comprehensive Training Program, students will commence with the preparation for the CDL Class A written exams. The program includes all applicable endorsements such as driving with tank vehicles, hazardous materials, and double and triple trailers. Following the written test preparation, students will enter into a session of map reading, route preparation, and logbook sheet training - the basic essentials needed when driving over the road or locally.

Unlike other programs, the CDL A-60 Intermediate offers more time for road maneuvering and shifting. Road maneuvering ranges from easy to difficult turns and levels, giving the student driver the knowledge for what he/she will be experiencing on a day to day basis.

Total number of hours in program: 60.
Credential to be awarded after completion: Diploma.

CDL A-90 Advanced Training Program is an intense training program that will prepare the student with the knowledge and technical skills needed to operate a tractor-trailer. This program includes the 250-mile run, a driving session in different stages of approximately 250 miles through the public highway systems. Troubleshooting, light mechanics, and vehicle preventive maintenance are also included in the program.

Similar to our other programs, students will commence with the preparation for the CDL Class A written exam. The program includes all applicable endorsements such as driving with tank vehicles, hazardous materials, and double and triple trailers. Following the written test preparation, students will enter into a session of map reading, route preparation, and logbook sheet training - the basic essentials needed when driving over the road or locally.

The CDL A-90 training program also includes light mechanics. Commercial vehicle mechanical parts, such as brake systems (air chambers, slack adjusters, etc.) may be used as demonstrations for student comprehension - how these systems work, troubleshooting, and how they may be fixed.

After an indoor/outdoor safety session on various topics, such as basic control of your vehicle, communicating with other drivers, controlling speed, space management, and cargo securing, just to mention a few, students will learn the exciting road maneuvering and shifting techniques that make Metropolitan Technical Institute Inc. one of the leaders in the field of commercial truck driving.

The CDL A-120 Complete Program is also know as the CDL 5-Star Training Program. This program sets the industry standard for commercial truck driving. The subjects that will be covered in this program are the essentials needed to develop the knowledge, expertise, and employable job skills in the field of commercial truck driving. This program includes the 500-mile run, a driving session in different stages of approximately 500 miles through the public highway systems. Troubleshooting, light mechanics, and vehicle preventive maintenance are also included in program. The CDL A-120 is the only program of its kind. There is no other program like it!

The program continues with backing and parking maneuvers on our 210,000 square foot outdoor driving range (the largest in Dade and Broward Counties). By succeeding in the backing and parking maneuvers and techniques training, students will learn all safety procedures for coupling and uncoupling the tractor and trailer through hands-on training, a must in today's field of commercial truck driving. Not only will the student driver acquire the knowledgeable skills to safely and efficiently couple and uncouple a tractor-trailer, but a double trailer as well.

Students will also learn the importance of the pre-trip and post-trip Inspections and how it is essential for both vehicle and public safety. Through hands-on training they will learn and develop the skills necessary to conduct pre-trip inspections as per state, government, and DOT regulations.

The CDL A-120 training program also includes light mechanics. Commercial vehicle mechanical parts, such as brake systems (air chambers, slack adjusters, etc.), may be used as demonstrations for student comprehension on how these systems work, troubleshooting, and how they may be fixed. At the discretion of the Chief Administrative Officer, selected speakers, such as Department of Transportation/ DOT officers, may come into class on a specific day to discuss topics on areas related to commercial driving.

After an indoor/outdoor safety session on various topics, such as basic control of your vehicle, communicating with other drivers, controlling speed, space management, and cargo securing, just to mention a few, students will learn the exciting road maneuvering and shifting techniques that make Metropolitan Technical Institute, Inc. one of the leaders in the field of commercial truck driving.

Road maneuvering ranges from easy to difficult turns and levels, giving the student driver the knowledge for what he/she will be experiencing on a day to day basis. All sessions conducted by experienced and well trained instructors and/or CDL examiners.

Once the student driver has completed all the required courses, he/she will be ready for the CDL pre-test, followed by the actual on-site CDL road test, culminating this great and exciting program. Soon you will be on your way to a prosperous, rewarding, and exciting career in the field of commercial truck driving.

Total number of hours in program: 120.
Credential to be awarded after completion: Diploma.


Grading
The instructor grades students during each course of study on a pass/fail basis. The evaluations are based on the student's written preparation, pre-trip inspection, and knowledge of vehicle, basic skills, and hands-on road driving skills.
