What are the benefits?

Plastic surgery can make you look younger, fresher, thinner, and/or more attractive. However, surgical options are not for everyone. Before you decide to have any surgery, think carefully about your various options and your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.

Is it dangerous?

Every surgery carries some degree of uncertainty and risk. Complications from most plastic surgery procedures are infrequent and generally minor but are possible. Each patient will have different physical characteristics so that the outcome cannot be predicted with 100% accuracy. You can reduce your risk of any complication by following the advice of your surgeon before and after surgery.

Is plastic surgery for me?

Prior to surgery, you surgeon will evaluate your potential as a candidate for the particular procedure you will undergo. He or she will determine if existing medical conditions might place you in excessive risk, such as high blood pressure, blood clotting problems, or a tendency to scar. Your surgeon will also need to know any drugs or medication you are currently taking and whether or not you smoke.

Your surgeon should also explain the procedure to you, including technique, anesthesia, risks, costs, and the facility where the procedure will be performed. Always ask your doctor if you have any questions about the entire process, particularly those about your expectations.
